Twi-Blight; Chapter 3: Pand-Demon Part 1

The combined lasers attack obliterated Pearl's spaceship into smithereens. Aboard the medic/soldier ships, the crew watched sadly as its debris drifted into the void of space. -"Such a shame it had come to this," one of them said. -"The commander & her crew knew of the risks, another continued. They remained admirably brave soldiers to the very end." -"Our mission isn't yet over, a third one intervened. We must retrieve the infected ship's debris to prevent diseased fragments from entering Galvan's atmosphere." While the retrieval team was getting suited, a mechanic started hearing strange noises coming from the exit room. Alarmed, he immediately informed his superiors about it. Not taking any chances, the captain told the retrievers to standby while a soldier troop inspected the hatch room alongside the engineers. With the soldiers right behind them, the engineers warily approached the spot from which the noise came to examine it with their tools. Carefully analyzing the spot, one of them said: "This noise has nothing to do with the ship's inner workings; something else is causing it!" As the sound kept getting louder, the mechanics rushed back behind the soldiers, who escorted them out of the room with their weapons aimed at the spot. Sealing the door behind them, they then immediately reported their discovery to the captain.

The latter decided to post soldiers around the hatch room's entrance to intercept whatever was seemingly trying to make its way inside. The guards stood nervously across the room, sweating as the noise kept going louder and lower at irregular intervals. Unfortunately, this meant they were too busy to notice a group of Slimes sneaking from behind and literally back-stabbing them, turning them to more monsters. FLASHBACK: Before the lasers blasted everyone, we look into Jazzuffa's mind: holding onto his last shred of self, he knew his companions were about to perish; he thus turned them to nigh-invulnerable Slimes to save them. The explosion killed the medic and soldiers aboard, but not the three monsters who were now driven by a hive mind, propelling themselves towards the warships. Having retained his intellect despite his mutation, Jazzuffa devised a plan: Issam and Pearl would create a diversion near the exit hatch as to distract the crew while he slips (literally) inside the warship through the exhaust port, his new body structure granting him virtual invulnerability. Once inside, starting by contaminating a single crew member, Jazzuffa unleashed an outbreak which engulfed the entire ship in less than an hour.

The infected ship received a voice message: "Ship Alpha calling Ship Beta; why are guys are lagging behind? Over." A slimy hand grasped the micro and replied with the captain's tone of voice: "Ship Beta's captain speaking, Roger that. We were facing minor technical issues with the exit room, but our engineers managed to fix it. Over." -"Roger that, Alpha's captain said; you're thus ordered to head back to HQ and fill the reports." Terminating the connection, the infected captain snickered and muttered to itself: "Only 1 being will be issuing the orders soon enough." The entire fleet eventually returned to HQ, but something seemed suspicious when Beta's crew didn't get off their ship with the others. Beta's captain contacted the rest through communicators, told them the exit room was malfunctioning and requested assistance to force a way out. Engineers with welding lights were dispatched for this task, burning open a hole in Beta's keel in no time. Saying they were surprised with its content would be quite the understatement, since seeing dozens of Slimes with sadistic grins awaiting you leaves a strong impression. In about 24 hours, the entirety of Galvan Prime had fallen prey to the virus. The swift, relentless assault of the Slimes combined with the fact no Galvan weapon could completely take them down shouldn't make this surprising. After the successful takeover, the new Slimes with Galvan intellect started planning for the invasion of other planets, intending to use their superior technology to ensure a quick, easy victory.

"I am Rhapsody, originally a high-tech robot Imad Hars built to assist him in his vigilante quest for universal peace, which ended with a demon's death and my physical body's loss; my creator and Jazzuffa Geenz resurrected me as an A.I., now inside a super-computer granting me access to a plethora of networks. 17 days ago, nine mutated Harans of a dystopian future, including my creator and his friends Mr. Geenz and Issam Azurite, wreaked havoc on Earth in a single day. 5 days later, Imad's future self reemerged to annihilate armies trying to conquer weakened zones, as well as other nations. Despite their ambiguously good intentions, decaying infrastructures and diplomatic relations drove society into chaos as it slowly crumbled. 2 days later, 10 days before this recording, many Slimes attacked Looboan's zone where my friends lived in. Mr. Geenz called psychysapien genius Pearl Leonis with her spaceship to the rescue with. But while escaping with Mr. Azurite, a monster wounded him before Miss Leonis could rescue them; knowing his clock was ticking, he made his friends neutralize and lock him as to avoid harming them in their search for a cure. They sought help from Galvans, who saw no point risking infection themselves trying to cure a practically dead species; not allowing them to seek help elsewhere and wanting Mr. Geenz dead triggered a fight, which resulted in Jazzuffa escaping and slaughtering the strangers. My extension in Pearl's ship was destroyed before I could find out the fate of my comrades; for all I know, they're now dead, transformed to Slimes, or some combination. But I know for sure that Earth's current state is NOT what they fought for. Pearl, Issam, Jazzuffa, Imad. I don't know if you'll ever be able to hear this recording, but I promise you four to set things right."
